About Me
Born and raised in San Francisco, Maria now splits her time between Houston, Texas and Austin, Texas near her four adult children and seven dogs. She is a proud and eternal matriarch.
After a ten year hiatus to raise her family, she returned to school and received her degree in Business Administration from St. Edwards University in the spring of 2012. After 5 years of juggling law school, a 4 hour daily commute, working full time, and single mom-ing it, in May 2018, Maria received her Jurisprudence Degree from St. Mary’s School of Law. Maria is licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.
Social justice and public service are driving passions in Maria’s life. A few of her personal goals are to open a non-profit organization with a social welfare mission and build a dog rescue ranch. There is a MFA in Creative Writing somewhere in that life bucket list, too.
Maria’s blog and life journey have been shared and featured by Good Morning America; Road Trip Nation on PBS; Scary Mommy; Parents.com; ABC News, Yahoo News, Frank Somerville with KTVU Oakland in California; Bring Change 2 Mind; Tallahassee Woman Magazine; and, The Write On Project, just to name a few.
Maria enjoys reading, writing, and expressing her thoughts, not necessarily in that order. Just a woman who writes to make people laugh, smile, think, and even to inspire. Short stories, essays, and memoirs are her poison.
One day she intends to finish writing the book she’s been working on and hopefully, if enough of you like this blog, she’ll have some fans willing to buy it.
Mother. Writer. Genius (or just smarter than the average bear). Self Proclaimed Comedienne. Queen of my Queendom.
Full disclosure: As a creative writer I reserve my right to embellish or omit details from the stories in my blog. This blog is not a clear map of my life. It’s a glimpse of pieces of it, with added pizzazz for entertainment.
I just discovered your blog and is really liking it!

Thank you for sharing your thought and insights on love and life…I am definitely a new fan and follower! God Bless you, Rodney and your four beautiful children.

You are too sweet. I do remember you, the same way I remember all of the older kids at Longfellow and Denman (you, Rodney, Joann, Rose, Em, etc), in that I-want-to-be-just-like-them kind of memory. I appreciate your comments and your sharing my post. And I really appreciate you took the time to tell me..
